JOHNSON RESIDENCE

JOHNSON RESIDENCE

The extensive and innovative use of concrete throughout this custom home creates an aesthetically pleasing, rustic and natural dwelling that makes an artistic and dramatic statement. The colored and board formed concrete creates an intentional random pattern with specially milled cedar from a local mill. The concrete walls act to anchor the home while providing a textural aesthetic with spacing to allow the excess slurry to create strong horizontal lines. These elements repeat throughout the house reinforcing flow and continuity in both the interior and the exterior spaces. Meant to honor and imitate the feel of an organic contemporary, the home blends nicely into its surroundings, while the concrete evokes a timeless quality to the project. This home's excellent use of concrete has been awarded for both construction and design by the Washington Aggregate & Concrete Association.
