HOW TO AVOID HEAT STRESS

Even though we haven't had a ton of sun this season...it's still important for you all to be aware of the special hazards that the warm weather can bring. Heat + humidity + physical labor can lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Here are some helpful tips so you can beat the heat:

  • Drink lots of water or Gatorade frequently and moderately

  • Avoid direct sunlight

  • Tackle strenuous jobs during the cooler mornings

  • Rest frequently in cool, shaded areas

  • Avoid alcoholic or caffeinated beverages and eat lightly

  • Wear lightweight , light colored, loose-fitting clothing

  • Wear brimmed hats, neck protectors, and sunscreen

Keep an eye on each other out there. Make sure you do not ignore signs of heat exhaustion! We want you all to stay safe!

VIADUCT REPLACEMENT

The Alaskan Way Viaduct demolition began February 12, 2019 and is still going strong as crews are scheduled to begin preparing to demolish at the start of Yesler Way. Do you all remember Roger and Nancy’s loft remodel they completed back in 2008? Well the view is about to get a major upgrade! Check out these photos from the viaduct demo.

The MacPherson’s loft is located just South of these photos, not too much longer before they get that nice waterfront view! Stay updated on the construction process by following this link:
